A launch plan to tick off: 4 weeks before to 2 weeks after
Growbot · · 7 min read
A good launch starts four weeks before and ends two weeks after. Beforehand you build a list of people who are waiting. On the day you need finished copy and images for every channel. Afterwards you measure what worked and turn the reactions into new content.
4 to 2 weeks before: what do I need to prepare?
- Set a goal: sign-ups, purchases or attention? One goal, one number.
- Check your landing page: the promise in the first sentence, one clear call to action, a visible price.
- Start a waitlist and point to it in every post.
- Create short links per channel so you know later where people came from.
- For Product Hunt: gallery images (1270 × 760), tagline, first comment, maker profile.
The last week: what goes into the calendar?
- Countdown posts with a look behind the scenes.
- An email to the waitlist the day before with date and time.
- Tell supporters in advance without asking for upvotes: platforms detect and penalise that.
On launch day: what do I do when?
- Start early: Product Hunt begins at 00:01 Pacific Time, 09:01 in Switzerland.
- Announce on every channel with its short link.
- Reply to every comment personally.
- Look for forum conversations where the problem is being discussed and reply helpfully, by hand.
Afterwards: how do I turn the launch into lasting growth?
- Evaluate numbers per channel: clicks, sign-ups, purchases.
- Turn the best questions from the comments into articles and FAQs.
- A thank-you post with results and next steps.
- Write down what you learned for the next release.
Can this be automated?
For a launch Growbot creates the whole plan: schedule, checklist, posts as calendar drafts, emails, article topics, short links and the Product Hunt package, all in your brand. In the DomainRadar test that was 17 tasks, 8 posts, 3 emails and 2 article topics.
